Easter brings the spirit of cheer and festivity to Bombay – glorious proof of the city’s melting pot of cultures and faiths.
In our cafés, we celebrate Easter with abundant delight in the spirit of Bombay’s Christian communities. In pockets of the city, from Bandra and Colaba to Dadar, churches glow softly with candlelight for midnight mass and Easter services. Families dress in Sunday best and gather to mark triumph over sorrow and new beginnings.
Then comes the food. Bakery windows bloom. The scent of hot cross buns beckons. Inside Monginis, a treasure trove of Easter delicacies awaits. Traditional almond and cashew-nut marzipan eggs are carefully decorated with royal icing for gifting. Foil-wrapped chocolate eggs are eagerly purchased and hidden for little ones to hunt (“Jaldi! Jaldi!” shouts Aunty).
At Dishoom, wonder fills just as brightly. Families gather over delicious and copious dishes, with added merriment from our Easter Special Lamb Rack and weekday games of Family Matka.

A shake of the pot, a roll of the dice – and a little prize to make it twice as nice. Make your chote (little) one an Easter holiday hero – come and play Family Matka:
- Dine in any Dishoom café with little ones (under 11 years of age), on weekdays before 6pm.
- Ask to play Family Matka when you request the bill, and magic will result.
- A wooden board, a brass pot and single die will appear.
- Curl into a family huddle to decide who will roll.
- Roll a 6 – the entire family meal is on us (yes, the whole bill, for tables of up to 12).
- No matter the number rolled, there are pocket-sized prizes for all children.
Family Matka may be played in café, Monday – Friday, between Monday 30th March and Friday 17th April 2026. Book a table or walk in and request the bill before 6pm. The Matkas insist.

Easter Special Lamb Rack
Make Easter gatherings glorious with finest snackery, rich curries, Gunpowder Potatoes and Grilled Greens. Then crown the table with a show-stopping centrepiece. Pre-order the whole Lamb Rack: slumbered overnight in raw papaya, yoghurt and humble spices, then roasted until blushingly pink. Adorned with pomegranate and a thrilling Kashmiri chilli sauce.
The Lamb Rack is available from Saturday 28th March to Sunday 12th April. £45. Suitable for 4–8 persons. Pre-order upon booking at least three days ahead of your visit (a limited number will be available on the day).
