Dishoom Loves XXXIIII (Market Edition)

Steaming drinks, darkening days, wardrobe rummages for items to comfort – winter has tiptoed in. We’re warming the season with Dishoom Loves Market – a spirited array of stalls, street food and after-hours revelry. It’s our loudest, brightest celebration of South Asian talent to date. This month, we’re shining a light on the glorious happenings and sublime people behind it all – from sensational workshops that spark artistry, to culture-exploring Chai pe Charcha talks, and one-of-a-kind pieces to bring beauty home.

We’re enchanted by:—

A wonderful line-up of market-walle and makers. Gasp at hand-embroidered linens and esteemed editorial. Acquire prized wellness treasures from such fine folks as Fable & Mane and Mauli Rituals. Grace skin with intricate mehendi from Pavan Beauty and bold jewellery from Anisha Parmar Studio. Fine opportunities for gifting (especially to yourself).

We’re creating magic with:—

Glittering workshops for crafting cherished take-homes. Create statement jewellery, adorn baubles with henna, stamp your own tote with traditional Indian woodblock prints, and more. Try something new, leave with a small delight – and perhaps a calmer mind.

Our thoughts are provoked thanks to:—

Inspiring speakers taking the stage for Chai pe Charcha (chats over chai). Settle in for meaningful conversations and complex questions rooted in South Asian culture. Trailblazing comedian, writer and actor Eshaan Akbar unpacks desi portrayals in the media. Sonia Haria, author of South Asian Beauty, untangles the world of beauty culture, while Indian-Canadian journalist Dhruva Balram digs into inherited ideas of ‘masculinity’, intergenerational expectations, and more. Talks of every flavour.

We’re enthralled by:—

Thrilling late-night revelry. As the sun dips low, market stalls take a bow and the curtain rises on performances to enchant ears, eyes and merry bellies alike. Oscar-winning duo Riz Ahmed and director Aneil Karia take us behind the scenes of their new contemporary film-adaptation of HAMLET. Deep belly guffaws await with sets from Brown Sauce Comedy Club. Pure joy pulses through a night with Gaysians: Reeta Loi & Nadine Noor with an electric mix of music and spoken word. Chuckle, sway, celebrate and shimmy into the night.

We’re adoring:—

New delights and cherished favourites from the Dishoom Store. Pick up our all-new Market Bag (best paired with the Monogram Cap), or take home beloved bottled cocktails (top tipples from our cafés). Spin play-it-again vinyl at Bun Maska Records, and gather flowers of every hue at Dishoom Blooms. A trove of thoughtful gifts, waiting to be wrapped and given, or kept.
