Glasgow Special, September

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Glasgow – our newest home, a city alive with talent. As the days grow cooler, and greens turn to ochre, should you find yourself with an idle hour, afternoon, or night upon your hands, let it be whiled away with enchanting art, writerly habits, moreish meals or an all-out limb-flailingly good party…

We’re marvelling at:–

Madhubani Paintings Exhibitions – a Glasgow Women’s Library exhibition showcasing the intricate Indian art form of Madhubani. Practised by women across rural India, the paintings are rich with colour. People and objects are drawn deliberately out of scale whilst narrating ancient mythology and legends. A sublime viewing experience.

Please your eyes

We’re nourishing our dreams thanks to:–

Sumayya Usmani’s writing courses. The award-winning food writer is known for her cookbooks from a Pakistani kitchen, each laced with deeply moving memoir. She also invites aspiring writers to dine on her wisdom through tailored mentoring or writing programmes. From one-on-one time to crafting a cookbook or finding your voice. A tonic for any budding author.

Secure your slot

We’re readying bellies for:–

Parveen’s. A supper club run by sisters Fariya and Sahar Sharif. Bringing people together over food and drink, the pair marries Pakistani food with local Scottish tastes. Esteemed for their low-waste approach to dining and plant-based delectables. Keep eyes peeled for their next intimate evening affair.

Stay updated

We’re swaying our hips to:–

Hu-Sane, a Glasgow-based DJ, who draws inspiration from the 2000s UK Bhangra scene. Catch them supporting Denham Audio and Buckley later this month at Stereo. Expect an audio jaunt from disco through to garage, Punjabi classics and pop. Hu-Sane brought the party at our Dishoom Glasgow opening this month, so we can attest they know a good time.

Friday 19th September, 11pm at Stereo, 20–28 Renfield Lane, G2 6PH
